Walk
I only took a step
I hadn't gone very far
I soon walked past the horizon
Passing the moon, the sun, then the stars.
Yesterday this journey I set upon
Just today I began to let down my guard
Tomorrow I have made plans that must then be kept
Even though I know the future my past will have scarred.
Then pulling from my pack some paper and charcoal shards
I started to write the words that then I would say
But then having said them I saying them marred
Until writing them became such a chore
And then saying them much too much hard
So turning I step in my tour
Roads re-feathered and re-tarred
Past my welcome, I stay.
