Exposed
She is exposed
Her truth jutting forth out of the hard ground
An ancient hand pushed her forward
Through the hidden soil
Past the clinging roots of deception
Out into the world of cold wind
And driving storms
To be buffeted
But not worn
She didn't ask to be this way
A column of stone alone upon the desert
Everyone can see her
She is exposed
I see her silhouette
See her graceful form flowing from the earth
She is not hard
She is gentle curves
The harshness of time has sculpted her
Not broken her as the sand below
She rises from the plain
And I can see her
Exposed
But never crumbling
I believe in her truth
And seek shelter within her gaze
